The Flip Video Camera is a small camcorder that comes in two versions, based on the length of time they can record video: 30 minutes or 60 minutes.
The camera is very easy to use, and you can play back the footage right on the Flip Video device, as well as edit and delete it.
The Flip is reasonably priced, so it makes me more comfortable allowing my kids to play with it, rather than hand them a pricey camcorder.
I played around with the Flip Video and found it incredibly easy to use. No need for reading the guide, as it’s a very intuitive little machine.
Included in the package for the Flip Video is a connector to play the video right on your TV, or you can plug it into your computer with a USB plug that flips out.
There is software on the Flip Video that will install on your computer, so you can edit from the computer, upload to video sites like YouTube.
The Flip Video has a zoom, and it records audio, though you’ll want to be relatively close to whatever you’re filming to capture the audio.
I passed it to my three and five year old kids, and they figured out how to operate the camera without any questions, which is a good testament to the ease of this camera for folks who are wary of electronics.
Additionally, if you are more advanced with video, you can save the files to your computer (PC or Mac) and edit them in your favorite video editing software. The Flip Video shoots video in .AVI format.
