Today, we’re going to take a walk out to my car so that I can tell you about my Sirius Satellite Radio and the Starmate 4 Receiver with Car Kit. Ready?
So while we’re on our way here to the Mommy Volvo…. I have to admit that I’m a Howard Stern fan. In fact, it was because Howard that I made the decision to make the leap from Terrestrial to Satellite in the first place – and now there’s no turning back for me. Not only do I get my dose of Howard every day, but I get 100% commercial-free music any time I want it – all the great stuff that’s out now and my favorites of yesteryear, like 70’s disco, 80 hair bands and 90’s alternative and grunge. You also get fantastic NFL, NBA and NHL sports coverage and news coverage from CNN, NPR and BBC.
Plans start at 12.95 a month, or you can do an annual deal for $142.00.
Anyway, the unit that I want to show you is from Sirius and it’s called the Starmate 4. What’s great about this receiver is that its small enough to not me clumsy but it’s big enough so that you can still press the keys easily and view the display clearly. It’s also a Universal Dock which means you can pop the unit right off and insert it into other accessories, like the Sirius Boombox or the Sirius Home kit.
It comes with a remote control which is very handy and allows you to store up to 30 station presets. Then there’s this other neat stuff that this unit does…
You can also store alerts by artists or a song so you can know when it’s playing on any of the stations. There’s also a Game Alert which prompts you when your favorite games are broadcasting and alerts you when the scores change. Lastly, you can pause, rewind and replay up to 44 minutes of live radio, which comes in handy when you’re listening to Howard on the Florida Turnpike and you have to make a pit stop.
So, the only regret that I have about my Sirius Satellite Starmate Radio Receiver is that I didn’t get it earlier. Seriously… there’s no turning back once you have it – no pun intended.
